Though we are having severe Santa Ana winds we can't use the air conditioner or open the windows because the ash and smoke reak in. We do have some relief from the heat using the ceiling fans. The winds will continue over the next 3 days and the fires this time I believe are more scary and out of control then the last ones. It feels like SD is currently in a scene from a dramatic movie or something. So many people have been evacuated and the fires are so fast and furious there is no telling where they will attack next. So far our area has been ok. I did take the kids to the library and did some local shopping and preparedness. Remo just got off work early because there is a fire threat to the Cox calling center where he is dispatched from. If Cox burned down we will be really screwed!!!!! Everyone just please pray and be safe.

Yes, be safe & we're praying for Southern Cali.
Our AC is our only relief from the bad pollutant air. That is what is keeping my boy from having a full blown asthma attack. I wonder why you can't run yours?
Vangie: When you "shelter in place" (Like we had to be ready to do in Kennewick because of the chemical weapons storage place south of us), they say to turn off your air conditioner because air gets in that way...perhaps ash doesn't, though?

Oh, I've never heard of that term. We haven't notice smoke or the smell of fire through the AC vents. We've had our AC on since the fires started on Sunday and have had no problems at all. We can smell it as soon as we open the doors, but other than that, nothing. That's interesting though.
