VBS and Then Some

So, all this week I have to get up early and help teach VBS at Chula Vista this week. It is giving our family a taste of what our schedules would be like when the kids go to school. Trying to get everyone up, dressed, fed, and out the door was a bit of a struggle. Daddy didn't make it so it was just me and the kids. There were about 22 kids in VBS the first day. We didn't split into small groups and just rotated to stations as a whole group. This was nice because I could be with Emeline and Noah. After a short while Emeline warmed up to people and I left her to be alone for the games. She did really well. She was playing capture the flag with the big kids and got the flag!!! But when she was tagged she sat on the side and pouted and cried a bit. The social interaction was great for her though. Noah was very clingy and wanted to be held or stay close to me all morning. I have really fun and happy memories of VBS as a kid, so I hope my kids will get the same experience. Emeline and Noah both really enjoyed and got into craft time. They were both starving because going from 9-12 without any snack is rough. We went to McDonalds. We picked up daddy because he needed to shop for the "Biggest Loser" food. Then it was time to get dinner, bath, and bed. Kids and I pooped out by 8 p.m. I haven't been to bed so early in LONG time. Anyways, I feel quite rested and ready to begin our "school day" again. Hopefully things will be a tad more organized at VBS today. The first day is always a learning day and trial and error. I also need to review what I am teaching. Good day!

Didn't VBS used to be in the evenings? How are parents who work supposed to attend?

Yes! Thank you Val!!! To be honest, I'm VERY UPSET that Chula Vista's VBS is in the morning from 9am-12noon. That means that the kids who have working moms and dads are left out. I don't want to start another SAHM/Working mom arguement, but at least if it's in the evening, both SAHM and working moms/dads can attend!!!!! We are taking Nicholas to SouthBay's VBS. I wish PV had one this year too.

Oopps, kinda got carried out away there. heheh.........Glad Emeline and Noah had a great time. Is this their first VBS? It will give Emeline a taste of school. Isn't she starting Kindergarten this fall?

No PV couldn't find any willing volunteers and everyone there wants to be paid for what they do. I was asked if I would be the director for the PV VBS next year. I will really have to pray and think about that one. It IS A LOT OF WORK!!!!! I like just being helper, and that is still a lot of work. Yes, this is the first VBS for my kids. Emeline is having a blast, Noah is a tad young and clingy. Emeline will be going to school NEXT year.

Is CV doing the rodeo theme? I wonder if it's the same theme for all the churches. Last year SB did a fiesta theme. It was pretty cool.
