Emeline my BIG girl starts school

Emeline has officially begun her educational career today. The first thing she did was wake up and check the calendar. The square read "Emeline starts school." She retreated back to bed and hide under the sheets. I timed her eating breakfast and she ate at record speed. She had a healthy oatmeal and flax breakfast with an orange smoothie. While she was dressing into her uniform, her eyes welled up a bit. I did too. I hugged her tight and reassured her how FUN and cool school was. It was a family affair and even daddy woke up to see his baby girl off. The car was very silent on the drive over there. Once we reached school Emeline wouldn't get out of the car. Her daddy carried her to the classroom. But inside she was so proud to show us where her desk and nametag were. The teacher was kind and let the parents stay for about 30 minutes. She read a cute story called "I'll always come back." Very touching and appropriate. After that she said "Students give your mommy and daddys a big hug and kiss and walk them to the door please. I could see the tears welling up in Emeline's eyes. But a girl behind her started bawling first. Emeline quickly regained composure and DIDN'T CRY! I was so proud of her. My last glimpse was her sitting properly on the colored rug. She didn't even wave good bye but remained focussed on the teacher. That is my girl! It was a LONG day. I kept watching the clock and wondering what she was doing. I did good. No tears, but my heart inside ached a bit. Noah missed his sister too. He made her a picture today. He kept asking "When are we picking up Emeline." What a joyous reunion it was at 2:30 pickup time. The kids get colored cards and that is all Emeline could talk about. She got green and said everyone got green because we were all running. Purple is the best, then green. They get prizes after 15 cards. So, far from what I have seen I am impressed with the teacher and seems like a great year! My girl is all grown up! I promise to post pictures by the weekend.

so they go all day, then? Wow! Ryan's kindergarten was only from 1-3:45pm...too short, I thought. Glad she did well! Are you packing a lunch, or can she buy food at school?

Yes, it is a LONG day. They have an hour of rest time and 2 recesses and lunch and snack. It is a very full day!!!! They can get a hot lunch but it is 5 bucks and Emeline is so picky she wouldn't eat it all to make it worthwhile. I just pack it and enjoy doing it. When we asked her if she wanted us to go into the room tomorrow, she said, "No just drop me off at the door." Excuse me miss independant!!!!!!
